Both plans give you the same app. The pricing page lists no feature difference between monthly and yearly, and says "No limits, all access" on web, iOS, Android and desktop. That covers all four modes: Focus, Relax, Sleep and Meditate.

UK and in-app prices

Brain.fm's web pricing page shows prices in US dollars only, including when we opened it from the UK. Inside the apps, prices can differ. On 16 Oct 2026 the US App Store listed Brain.fm Pro in-app purchases from $6.99 to $99.99, and the UK App Store from £4.99 to £85.99. The listings don't say which purchase is which plan, so check the price on the purchase screen before you subscribe.

Is there a Brain.fm free trial?

Yes. The pricing page says "Try for Free. Cancel anytime." but doesn't say how long the trial lasts. A separate Brain.fm page, brain.fm/30-day-free, offers 30 days free. So the length depends on where you sign up.

The trial is the start of a subscription. The trial button on the pricing page says "Then $99.99 billed annually", and Brain.fm's terms say a subscription "may start with a trial period" and renews automatically until you cancel. The pricing page doesn't say whether you need a card for the trial, so read the sign-up screen before you start.

Brain.fm's terms ask you to cancel at least 24 hours before a subscription period ends to avoid the next charge. If you only want to test it, set a reminder a few days before the trial ends.

Brain.fm discounts: student, promo codes and lifetime deals

Student discount

Brain.fm offers active students a 20% discount. To get the coupon code, email support@brain.fm from a .edu address, or send a copy of your student ID or other proof of enrolment. Brain.fm's FAQ doesn't say which plans the code covers. On the yearly plan, a 20% discount would bring the price to about $80.

Brain.fm's terms say renewals are billed "at the non-discounted rate", so a discount may cover only the first billing period.

Team pricing

Brain.fm offers special pricing for team accounts for companies and other groups. It doesn't publish the price, so you have to contact Brain.fm for a quote.

Promo codes

We found no public promo code on brain.fm on 16 Oct 2026. We don't list codes from coupon sites because we can't check that they work. The 30-day trial page above is the longest free offer we found on Brain.fm's own site.

Lifetime deals

Brain.fm doesn't sell a lifetime plan on its pricing page today. The lifetime deals we found are old and have ended. Two from 2017:

  • February 2017: a sponsored deal on SFist offered a lifetime subscription for $39.
  • November 2017: AppSumo offered lifetime access for $37 instead of $149, according to a post by Steve Pavlina, which notes that the deal has ended.

If you want to pay once, the nearest thing today is Brain.fm's one-year gift card at $99.99, which is not valid on an existing subscription.

Is Brain.fm worth the price?

At $99.99 a year, Brain.fm costs about $8.33 a month, or about 27 cents a day. The yearly plan makes sense if you will use focus music on most working days. The monthly plan costs $179.88 over a year, so it suits a short trial run or a single project.

The bigger question is whether the music helps you. Brain.fm has one peer-reviewed study of its own music, and the company ran it. Our full review covers that study, Brain.fm's claims checked against it, and what users say.

How to cancel Brain.fm

Cancel where you subscribed. If you paid through an app store, cancel with that store. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

  • On the web: open your account overview page, click "Membership", then click "Cancel your membership". You can also email support@brain.fm. Brain.fm's terms say it aims to process cancellations within two business days.
  • On iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Brain.fm, then tap Cancel Subscription (Apple Support).
  • On Android: open your subscriptions in Google Play, select Brain.fm, tap Cancel subscription and follow the steps (Google Play Help).

Refunds are limited. Brain.fm's terms say you can't claim a refund for part of a subscription period. If you live in the EU, you can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, but only if you haven't streamed or downloaded any music.

Free options

The cheapest way to try Brain.fm is its own free trial. If you would rather not start a subscription at all, NSDR.co's Focus Mode is free to use, always a free plan.

It has focus sessions across Deep Work, Study, Creative and Sprint, binaural beats plus a pulse in the music for speakers, ambient sounds to layer underneath, and a Pomodoro timer. It runs in the browser.

It doesn't have what Brain.fm charges for: offline downloads, a large music library, an adjustable neural effect level, or Brain.fm's own modulation method. Its beat layer works best with headphones.
